Founded in 2018, The Urban Miner Project is a nonprofit organization centered around creating systems of recycling that can be implemented throughout the world to help with the healing of our planet by tackling the e-waste problem through boundless innovation, education and community action.
With the rapid advancements and evolution of technology, electronic waste has become the fastest growing waste stream in the world. This is highly problematic for all living organisms due to the high levels of toxic elements that leach into our ecosystems when electronic waste is mishandled or improperly disposed of.
There are currently more landfilled earth metals than in all known remaining mineable deposits on our planet. Since most electronic devices are 98% recyclable, we are highly optimistic in our ability to change the trajectory we are on as a society when it comes to e-waste. By providing easily accessible and zero-cost collection methods, we plan to drastically improve recycling rates by 2030, starting with the implementation of our Urban Miner Clubs.
